Intellectual Property is the branch of law that protects creations and inventions, as well as other institutes. In Brazil, INPI (Instituto Nacional da Propriedade Intelectual) works with trademarks, patents, industrial designs, geographical indications, technology contracts, and others. The BN (Biblioteca Nacional) works with intellectual works (literary, artistic, scientific, or any other kind of intellectual creation provided for in Brazilian law.
International Law is present since Brazil was a colony of Portugal (1530 to 1822). Since then, the legal branch has been gaining new players and new opportunities. It is increasingly updated (through international agreements and treaties internalized in Brazil).
